Fork Burke is an artist and poet and was born in Detroit (USA). She studied literature and creative writing in New York at New School University. She has published, among others, the volume »Licking Glass«, poetic essays, the spoken word project »Durch die Blumen« and more recently »33 – A Journal of Checklist«. She is also the co-founder of the online platform www.lpressl.com and works with black history, ancient Africa (ancient, pre-colonial Africa) and Vision. Fork Burke is also a mother and has been living in Biel for seven years. Together with Myriam Diarra and Franziska Schutzbach, she edited the book about black women, I will be different every time.

ALITHEA - The title ‘Alithea’ refers to the Greek goddess of truth, one of Zeus' countless daughters. Burke writes in a radically modern, visionary and fragmentary style, using highly figurative language rich in metaphor. Lydia Dimitrow has translated the English poems into German.

Fork Burke ist Künstlerin und Lyrikerin und wurde in Detroit (USA) geboren. Sie hat in New York Literaturwissenschaften und Creative Writing an der New School University studiert. Von ihr erschienen sind unter anderem der Band »Licking Glass«, poetische Essays, das Spoken Word Projekt »Durch die Blumen« so wie jüngst »33 – A Journal of Checklist«. Sie ist zudem Mitgründerin der Onlineplattform www.lpressl.com und beschäftigt sich intensiv mit Schwarzer Geschichte, dem alten Afrika (ancient, pre-colonial Africa) und dem Afrofuturism. Fork Burke ist zudem Mutter und lebt seit sieben Jahren in Biel.

Sie hat gemeinsam mit Myriam Diarra und Franziska Schutzbach das Buch über Schwarze Frauen I will be different every time herausgegeben.

Der Titel «Alithea» verweist auf die griechische Göttin der Wahrheit, eine von Zeus’ unzähligen Töchtern. Burke schreibt radikal modern, visionär und fragmentarisch, in einer ausgeprägt bildlichen, metaphernreichen Sprache. Lydia Dimitrow hat die englischen Gedichte ins Deutsche übertragen.
